Beykent is Patenting!

Beykent University is inviting inventors to submit their applications to the Beykent Patent Competition for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.

Inventors with an innovative product, idea, or design may apply to the Beykent Patent Competition organised by Beykent TTO and become eligible for patent application support and consultancy services for their inventions.

Award:

The top 5 inventions selected will receive a patent application award and consultancy services.


Important Note:

Beykent Patent Competition or is open to applications from academic staff and students of Beykent University, with the aim of supporting them in registering, implementing, and commercialising their invention ideas.

Teams applying to the patent competition may consist of both academics (including doctoral and master’s students, who are considered in this category) and undergraduate students, or may consist solely of academics or solely of students.

In teams comprising both academics and students, the team leader must be an academic.

Teams consisting solely of undergraduate students will be evaluated separately within the scope of the competition and will not be assessed together with teams that include academics.

Applicants who pass the preliminary evaluation stage and qualify for the final are required to prepare a presentation that meets the following criteria.


Presentation Criteria

The presentation should explain all the details of the invention. The presentation must begin with the “Title of the Invention.” The title should be the same as the one on the application form. To ensure that the invention is clearly understood,

It is recommended that the presentation consists of the following parts:

(1) Technical Field

This section briefly (in a few sentences) describes the technical field related to the invention.

Example:

The invention is related to ................ .

(2) Known State of Art

To facilitate understanding, research, and examination the invention, the presentation should include similar inventions, technologies, or products (the known state of the art) from both domestic and international sources. Similar inventions, technologies, or products to be described may include innovations protected by a patent application or patent certificate, as well as technical solutions that are not under any protection but are currently in use in the market. Therefore, applicants are required to conduct preliminary research related to their inventions.

(3) Purpose of the Invention

The presentation should explain the innovations the invention brings compared to the known state of the art, the advantages it provides, the disadvantages it eliminates, or the problems it solves. It is important to clearly demonstrate the problems your invention solves and the advantages it provides.

(4) Explanation of the Invention

Following the explanation of figures and references, this section provides a full and detailed description of the invention to facilitate the dissemination of technological knowledge.

5) Industrial Applicability of the Invention

Details should be provided regarding how the invention can be implemented, its potential areas of use, and how it may be utilised.
